Celebrities Walk The Wizard Of Oz Yellow Brick Carpet at Sphere Las Vegas

Celebrities followed the yellow brick road for the modern day movie premiere of The Wizard of Oz at Sphere Las Vegas.

Celebrities such as Kris Jenner, Joe Manganiello, Rosanna Arquette, Skylar Astin, and Queen guitarist Brian May attended the recent premiere of "The Wizard of Oz" at The Sphere in Las Vegas. They walked a yellow brick road carpet in place of a traditional red carpet.

The actress-singer Luft, 72, brought her two grown children and four grandchildren to the Aug. 28 "Wizard of Oz" premiere at Las Vegas’ Sphere to witness the nearly $100 million reimagining of the 1939 classic starring Judy Garland, then 16, as Dorothy.

"My mother would have loved this, absolutely," said Luft. "I hope there’s a standing ovation during ‘Over the Rainbow.'"

The iconic film now plays across the venue’s 160,000-square-foot, 16K-resolution LED screen that wraps over and around the audience. “It’s pushing the visual medium,” Jane Rosenthal, one of the new film’s producers, says. “It’s pushing the exhibition of shows and concerts in a way that’s singular, and it’s exhilarating.”

“Some of the things we did were just organic and authentic to what the original filmmaker’s intent was,” says Jennifer Koester, president and chief operating officer of Sphere. It’s also true that none of this would be possible without AI — a technological advancement that many in Hollywood worry will cost jobs.

The new film also promises a full sensory experience, such as giant wind machines to drop the audience inside a tornado or a boom sound that ricochets around Sphere’s 167,000 speakers as Dorothy taps on the Tin Man’s heart.

The magical yellow brick carpet entrance to the new Wizard of Oz experience at The Sphere Las Vegas was produced by Allied Global Marketing, created by Boiler Room Creative, and My VIP Life was on site providing additional project management support.
